24/7 Pediatric Care Center
Emergency and inpatient care for ages 0 to 17.
We can handle injuries, serious illnesses and behavioral health emergencies, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patients at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Pediatric Care Center at ChristianaCare will now be treated by CHOP clinicians - a partnership that brings nationally recognized pediatric expertise closer to home, for the moments that matter most. The Pediatric Care Center – a Pediatric Emergency Center for kids - offers a calm, family-friendly environment for emergency and short-term inpatient care. And because it’s located right in our Center for Women’s and Children’s Health, it’s seamlessly integrated with primary and specialty pediatrics.
Why a separate emergency department?
Kids have specific needs. Emergency departments are designed for grown-up situations. So we’ve created an entirely separate, entirely kid-centric space where young patients and their families can feel more comfortable during high-stress situations.
And it’s not just a separate location. The 24-hour pediatric clinic is staffed by CHOP pediatric emergency specialists and hospitalists, who are highly trained in giving emergency care for kids of all ages.
Who is the Pediatric Care Center for?
From babies and toddlers to older children and teenagers, and anyone in between. All patients under 18 are welcome. Instead of waiting among adult patients in the regular emergency department, kids and their families can streamline their experience and skip right to a place created just for them.
What Does the CHOP Pediatric Care Center treat?
The Care Center is staffed by expert pediatric specialists trained in emergency medicine for kids. You can take comfort in knowing that our caregivers will give your child the care that they need when they need it the most while keeping parents updated throughout their visit. Pediatric care services include:
