Clinical researchers from ChristianaCare’s Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute and scientists at The Wistar Institute and have discovered a vulnerability in pancreatic cancer that could be targeted as a potential therapy.
In a new study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, they show how defective mitochondria within cells spark a process that triggers inflammation. They also show how cancer cells become so dependent on this inflammation to grow that without it, they die.
“Expanding access to care means meeting people where they are and investing in services communities rely on,” said Pauline Corso, president of Ambulatory Network Continuity and Growth at ChristianaCare. “This transition strengthens our ambulatory network in southeastern Pennsylvania and ensures patients in southern Chester County continue to have reliable access to high-quality physical therapy close to home.”

The new rehab location will complement ChristianaCare’s existing services in West Grove, including the neighborhood hospital, primary care and imaging.
“We are proud of the care this team has delivered to the West Grove community,” said Arpita Patel, DPT. “This transition allows our clinicians to continue serving patients while gaining the support, resources and stability of a health system that shares our values and focus on whole-person care.”
